Montreal, QC-based country-rock band, Wave 21 is back with a brand new single, “All Over & Over”, which was recorded in Montreal and mastered in Nashville at the Georgestown Masters.
The band, made up of Mary-Lynn Doroschuk and her father, Stefan Doroschuk, a member of the legendary band Men Without Hats, took advantage of the confinement to work on a new album forthcoming in early 2021: Brace Yourself. “All Over & Over” is the first official single from the upcoming album with a more rock sound.
The track is a collaboration with well-known singer-songwriter Sam Roberts. The partnership is a real dream come true for Wave 21 and brings to the track a unique and typically-Montreal rock sound.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m Mary-Lynn, the frontwoman of Wave 21. My story begins long ago when I started writing songs with my family. At 8 years old, my sister and I sang on Men Without Hats’ 6th studio album “No Hats Beyond This Point” (my uncle Ivan and father Stefan’s band). This is really what sparked my passion for music and studio recording. I’m currently a classical guitar student at McGill University and aspire to pursue a master’s degree in sound engineering. My band Wave 21 is really what drives me to further explore and develop my songwriting skills. I want to incorporate as much as I learn along the way into my music.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style
I try to write songs in a way that is relatable but also slightly unique in order to create a balanced sound that stands out in today’s music industry. I try to have just the right amount of “old” and “new”. Some of my main influences would definitely be David Bowie, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, City & Colour, and Sum 41. My writing style is very versatile and mixed since I write songs completely on my own, with my sister Emmy-Lou or with my father Stefan. Having a state of the art home studio is really a blessing as a songwriter.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
Our live performances are always well received and we get great feedback from our fans after our sets. Before the pandemic, we only had released one album (10 songs) but coming to see us live gave the audience the chance to hear all of our unreleased songs as well. Being able to test out our songs on the crowds over the past few years, we were able to make executive decisions about our second album by choosing our top 10 “fan picks”. No live shows booked for now, instead, we are currently planning out a live concert series that will be available for our fans to listen to, in efforts to give them the closest experience to the real deal.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
“All Over & Over” featuring Sam Roberts! It’s our newest release and first song with a featured artist! A brand new sound for a brand new chapter in Wave 21’s story. I’m really proud of this one.
