Welcome to the world of Sunshine Express! Some call it a future worth dying for, but no one can really place what makes it so special. Consider it our pleasure to invite you into our Garden Marquette, a place where the excess thoughts and feelings in our Content Abundance War collect on the shelf and crystalize into invincible Bouquettes. You will die soon enough, so might as well witness the bloom of that which never will: digital music.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
Sunshine Express’ style has been described as “Maximalist” and “Post-Vaporwave”. Equal parts raw and composed, unsettling, and inviting, the group’s multifarious sound reverberates with mismatched elements of rock ’n’ roll, commercial sampling, and post-punk angst. SunEx’s misguided next step for alternative rock is down into the unkempt basement of the uncanny valley.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Besides our latest and greatest work – the Adieu Hype Mix Edition – the Big One you all gotta watch out for is release no. 1: Marge (off of our first Bouquette: Blue Betrothal Bouquette). It’s a bonafide underground hit, racking up 10s and 10s of views. Once it gets into the right hands, there may be no stopping it.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
SHOUT OUT: NUTRIENTS – the self-titled release was (and still is) powerful and fun. SHOUT OUT: NOT FOR FUNCTION NETWORK – putting on great shows once upon a time ago and putting out passionate live sessions with a lotta underrated artists. BONUS SHOUT OUT: JONCRO and the man DANIEL G. WILSON – a true visionary leading the honest-to-god rock group of honest-to-god rock groups this side of the Atlantic. BONUS BONUS SHOUT OUT: THE MUSICAL MILITIA, who keep our heads and hearts in the game every waking hour. We haven’t stopped gaming the system and we know you won’t either!
