Toronto, ON’s art-pop artist Language Arts is back with her second single and video from her upcoming album, Lemon/Lime which is due out this Fall. The single, “Top of the Top” is a deeply personal follow up to the first single, “Against The Wind“.
Kristen Cudmore, the artist behind Language Arts shares,
“Britton Proulx, the mastermind behind this video production, really captures the essence of how I feel physically, for a majority of the time. It’s a window into how I experience my brain injury. I know when I watch it, my symptoms come on strong. He’s trying to evoke that message through images, as I do through sounds and words and it really translates. Post-concussion syndrome can really diminish my quality of life. Especially the nausea and dizziness that I experience the most. It’s frustrating trying to function with the amount of stimuli that wears me down as the day goes on. When I am not working, I am feeling unwell and feeling unwell has a whole other set of side effects like alienation, deep sadness and frustration and also determination. Writing this song helped me get these unbearable feelings out of my system and into an expression. I think Britt made my inner-workings look like a clear representation of how destabilized I feel and how fragile the human brain is while keeping it simultaneously beautiful and bewildering. It’s equal parts doom and bloom.”
