Portland punk ’n’ roll veterans Guerrilla Teens keep the spirit of underground rock alive with their latest EP on Sonic Jett Records.
Portland, Oregon punk ’n’ roll five-piece Guerrilla Teens have released their new EP, Sympathy for the Decibel, on October 16, 2026, via Sonic Jett Records. Combining decades of West Coast punk history with an uncompromising approach to rock ’n’ roll, the band continues to prove that experience doesn’t have to mean nostalgia.
Frontman Scott “Deluxe” Drake and guitarist Jeff Fieldhouse first made their mark with Long Beach garage-punk band The Humpers, whose raw combination of punk, garage rock, and classic rock ’n’ roll eventually took them to Epitaph Records and stages throughout the United States and Europe.
But Guerrilla Teens aren’t simply revisiting the past. Alongside guitarist Saul Koll, drummer Tim Connolly, and bassist Anna Andersen, Drake and Fieldhouse have built a band with its own identity, sound, and creative direction.
From The Humpers to Guerrilla Teens
The roots of Guerrilla Teens stretch back to the Southern California punk scene of the 1990s, when The Humpers were regulars at venues such as Al’s Bar in downtown Los Angeles.
It was an era shaped by underground publications, independent labels, and venues that helped keep garage punk and rock ’n’ roll thriving outside the mainstream.
Drawing inspiration from Little Richard, Chuck Berry, The Stooges, and New York Dolls, Drake and Fieldhouse developed a songwriting partnership built around raw energy, memorable hooks, and a shared love of loud guitars.
Together, the five musicians created something that draws from their collective history without being defined by it.
Their musical paths continued through bands including Suicide Kings and The Lovesores before they eventually found themselves in Portland.
During the COVID-19 lockdowns, Drake and Fieldhouse returned to songwriting. What initially looked like a possible EP project developed into Guerrilla Teens.
Koll brought experience from The Lovesores and 8-Foot Tender, while Connolly and Andersen contributed their own connections to Portland’s punk scene, including The Epoxies and The Suicide Notes.
Sympathy for the Decibel Continues the Band’s Evolution
The new Guerrilla Teens EP, Sympathy for the Decibel, follows their 2023 release Under the Dagger and 2025’s The Monkey’s Paw.

Across those releases, the band has continued developing a sound that combines raw 1970s punk, garage rock, darker melodies, and a twin-guitar attack with strong pop hooks and Andersen’s backing vocals.
Rather than limiting themselves to a particular punk subgenre, Guerrilla Teens embrace the broader spirit of rock ’n’ roll, bringing together different influences while maintaining the energy that first connected the members to underground music.
At the heart of the band remains the long-running songwriting partnership between Drake and Fieldhouse, who have continued creating music together through decades of changing bands, cities, and musical trends.
Keeping Punk Rock Alive
Guerrilla Teens have shared stages with acts including Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, The Lords of Altamont, and The Briefs, adding to an already extensive history of live performances.
While their roots reach back to the 1990s, the band remains focused on creating new music rather than recreating earlier successes.
With Sympathy for the Decibel, Guerrilla Teens continue carrying the spirit of underground punk and garage rock forward, proving that loud guitars, independent releases, and a commitment to rock ’n’ roll still have a place in today’s music scene.
