Canadian country artist Julia Vos slows things down with a heartfelt new single about love, connection, and appreciating life’s quieter moments.
Canadian country artist Julia Vos is celebrating her newest single, “Cigarette Sundays”, which is available on all streaming platforms. The accompanying music video is also available on YouTube.
Since its release, “Cigarette Sundays” has been added to Amazon Music editorial playlists – “Fresh Country”, “Just North of Nashville”, “Country du Moment”, and “Brand New Music”.
Written by Julia Vos and CCMA-nominated artist Kyle McKearney and produced by CCMA Award-winner Bart McKay, “Cigarette Sundays” is a laid-back country tune with romantic overtones that leans into the traditional country influences and true-to-life storytelling that have become synonymous with Julia’s musical style.
Julia says,
“This song is really an ode to my life right now. In all the craziness of being on the road and chasing this dream, it’s important to remember to pause, take it easy, and make time with someone you love. As Kyle and I were talking about our lives as artists, I shared how my honey and I have this little ritual where, if the timing lines up and life feels like a bit too much, we’ll sit outside and share a cigarette. Somewhere along the way we coined those days ‘Cigarette Sundays’. We immediately knew that was the hook and the rest of the song really wrote itself.”
“Cigarette Sundays” marks Julia’s second single of 2026 and third consecutive collaboration with producer Bart McKay, following the award-winning “I Only Kiss Cowboys” and “Jesus Drank Whiskey,” both of which earned editorial playlist support and SiriusXM Top of the Country airplay.
With nine singles, a Country Music Alberta Award, and performances at major festivals including Boots and Hearts, Big Valley Jamboree, and Country Thunder, Julia continues to make her mark on Canadian country music. Most recently, she performed at Boots and Hearts West in Edmonton and BreakOut West in Victoria.
Through it all, she has learned to balance the thrills of building a music career with the simple joys of appreciating those closest to her – a message she wants others to connect with as they listen to “Cigarette Sundays”.
She says,
“It’s a song you can throw on, lean back, let the world slow down for a minute and celebrate the quiet moments of being with your someone.”
