Canadian actor and musician delivers ten tracks of gritty rock, introspection, and resilience.

On This Dirty Machine, Canadian actor/musician Kurtys Kidd delivers gritty guitar riffs and meaningful songwriting throughout the ten-track album.

“This Dirty Machine comes from a time when I was in an emotionally tough place,” Kurtys says of the album. “I drove out to the desert one night and just stared up at the stars and contemplated my life, my place on this earth, and even the place of our existence in the universe. The album tells a story of the night and the process to get through it.”

“Out On The Spiral Arm” was the recent leadoff single from the album, gaining critical praise and radio play throughout North America. The album’s focus track, “The Breaker,” channels a sound that feels like U2 meets Led Zeppelin while remaining unmistakably within his own unique style.

“The Breaker, in astronomical terms, describes the dissipation of energy in interstellar or magnetospheric shock waves,” Kurtys says. “Basically, being hit by waves that you can’t stop and aren’t prepared for. We all get hit with these in life. This is the force that tears us apart.”

An album about finding your way through the dark to the dawn, This Dirty Machine is set to connect with listeners on a deeper level.

“This Dirty Machine is us – as humans we are machines; dirty, imperfect machines making our way through life. On a grander scale, This Dirty Machine also refers to our planet: a living, breathing machine barrelling its way through the universe. Dirty, imperfect… us.”

Beyond music, Kurtys is also a veteran of the screen. He’s appeared in series such as Murdoch Mysteries, What We Do in the Shadows, Earth: Final Conflict, La Femme Nikita, and PSI Factor, often portraying roles as intense and layered as his music.
