The Offspring‘s Just The Punk Stuff show at MTelus was easily one of the most unforgettable concerts I’ve ever been to. As one of only two Quebec dates dedicated entirely to B-sides, deep cuts, and rarely played songs, it was an absolute dream come true for any die-hard fan.
Instead of the massive arenas and festival stages they’re known for, The Offspring returned to the legendary 2,300-capacity MTelus, creating an intimate atmosphere that felt like stepping back into their punk roots. The show was beyond sold out—I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many people packed into the venue.
From the moment they opened with “Session,” the crowd exploded. Crowd surfers flew overhead all night, the pit never stopped moving, stage divers kept launching themselves into the sea of fans, and the energy inside the room was completely relentless. This was as punk as it gets.
The setlist was a gift for longtime fans, featuring songs you never expect to hear live like “We Are The One,” “Beheaded,” “Forever And a Day,” “Something From Nothing,” “Hassan Chop,” “A Thousand Days,” “Blackball,” “The Noose,” “Breaking These Bones,” “Nitro,” “Kick Him When He’s Down,” “Take It Like a Man,” and for the encore the epic “Pay the Man” followed by the perfect run of “All I Want,” “Staring at the Sun,” and “The Kids Aren’t Alright.”
For one night, The Offspring traded stadiums for a sweaty club packed with their most dedicated fans, and the result was pure chaos in the best possible way. A once-in-a-lifetime show that reminded everyone why punk rock is meant to be experienced up close and loud.
