Base 31, Picton, ON
The summer season of RBC Drill Hall shows at Base31 in Picton kicked-off on high ground this Saturday June 6 with a sold out Canadian classic, Blue Rodeo.
Brooks & Bowskill – Ethereal sound, transformative vibes.
Opening the evening was Brooks & Bowskill, featuring Blue Rodeo multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Bowskill alongside acclaimed singer-songwriter Brittany Brooks. Ethereal folk-rock filled the repurposed airplane hangar as the crowd gathered shoulder-to-shoulder at the front of the stage well before showtime.
Drawing from a sound rooted in 1960s folk-rock, classic country and modern Americana, the duo delivered a set built on rich harmonies and undeniable chemistry through musicianship.
With a growing catalogue of acclaimed releases and an increasingly devoted following of their own, Brooks & Bowskill proved to be far more than an opening act, they set the tone for an evening steeped in Canadian roots music excellence.

Blue Rodeo and Jim Cuddy’s damn smile.
The time had finally come – and without hesitation the band took the stage with frontman Jim Cuddy smiling ear to ear as the sold out crowd cheered in excitement.
Currently celebrating over 40 years as a band, they launched into a set that effortlessly balanced nostalgia and the timeless songwriting that has defined their career over the decades.
It is safe to say that this season opener headliner set the tone for an epic season of shows at Base31’s drill hall.

Coming up next at Base31 – from upcoming sold out Angine De Poitrine to a double header night with The Beaches, a country festival AND rock festival, this venue has something for everyone – and the sunsets are something to behold.
