Beloved Haligonian Ria Mae performed a sold out concert at The Light House Arts Centre in Halifax on March 14th. Opening for the night was local singer-songwriter Breagh Isabel, joined by Mo Kenney. The duo performed a mix of Breagh Isabel’s songs, Mo Kenney’s tracks, and selections from Port Cities, which Breagh was previously a part of. This set featured Breagh on the keyboard and Mo on the guitar.

The crowd, which spanned all ages, cheered as Ria Mae took the stage with her band, kicking the night off with one of her breakout hits “Clothes Off.” Throughout the night, she shared stories behind her songs, including “Thoughts on Fire,” which she created with hip hop artist Classified of Enfield, NS. During the performance, Classified joined her on stage for his verses and stuck around to debut their new collaboration, “In The Stars,” released just the day before.
Ria Mae also performed tracks from her newly released album Two, which she describes as reflecting a new chapter in both her life and career. Now a married mother of two, her world looks a lot different from when she first started writing and performing. Although the album came out in November, the night felt like a hometown release show.
I never get tired of seeing Ria Mae live! The energy in the room is always so positive and just full of fun, feel-good vibes.
