My dad loved the Gipsy Kings, so that sound was always in the house, and in Chile the cumbia and salsa styles were so popular — I grew up surrounded by that energy. I also fell in love with legends like Gloria Estefan, Selena, and Celia Cruz, who brought such powerful vocals and raw emotion to their music. Spanish music has this sexy, romantic, and deeply emotional quality that really spoke to me. Later on, artists like Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, and Jennifer Lopez pulled me into the pop world, and they definitely influenced the way I approach dance-pop and performance today.
