Andrew Hyatt Unveils Bold New EP, Andrew Hyatt And The Ten Year War
Award-winning country artist Andrew Hyatt is opening a new chapter with his upcoming EP Andrew Hyatt And The Ten Year War, out August 29, 2025 via 604 Records. Marking a decade of heartbreak, healing, and perspective, the six-song collection finds Hyatt at his rawest and most unguarded, anchored by the haunting feature track “Sad Eyes.”
“It isn’t just an EP, it’s a banner,” Hyatt says. “A home for songs that are entirely me… touching on addiction, anger, depression, loss, and love.”
That honesty runs through the project — from the charged storytelling of “Between The Lines” to the stripped-back closer “Save The Date.” With production from Derek Hoffman (Donovan Woods, The Trews), the EP blends modern country polish with cinematic weight, creating space for Hyatt’s earnest, lived-in vocals to shine.
Hailing from Sudbury, Ontario, Hyatt has earned his place as one of Canada’s most compelling country voices, with multiple Top 10 hits, a Rising Star Award at the 2022 CCMAs, and tours alongside Dallas Smith, Dean Brody, and Tim Hicks. With The Ten Year War, he delivers not just songs, but a story — one that’s as personal as it is universally relatable.
First off, what have you been up to since our last chat?
Writing, recording, livin’. The usual stuff. I can’t remember exactly the last time we talked, but yeah, things never really slow down.
Andrew Hyatt And The Ten Year War feels like one of your most personal projects yet. What pushed you to dive this deep after a decade in music?
Honestly? We put out some incredible music like “Neverland”, “I Need That”, “Four Good Years”, “Still Something” and “Close To You” and at the end of all of it I felt like as much as I loved those songs, I still felt like I needed to tell my story and leave an account that I can look back and on see how far I’ve come. So, ya I guess I wanted to make a biographical record for myself. I’ll get back to the other stuff in the upcoming months, but this one was for me.
How did working with producer Derek Hoffman shape the overall sound and atmosphere of the record?
Derek and I have been friends for years and musical collaborators for almost as long. A lot of the sound that people associate with me comes from our early days creating together. It’s just a natural flow, and we work well together. I’m lucky to have worked with so many incredible humans.
The songwriting touches on addiction, anger, depression, love, and loss. Was it cathartic to get these themes out, or did it feel more like reopening old wounds?
I didn’t feel like it was a reopening at all. If anything, it was putting to bed some demons. I’m gonna leave them in the ground too! Life’s pretty great here.
With fall tour dates coming and festival shows this summer, what can fans expect from your live set with this new material?
I’ve always prided myself on making music that connects with people. We try to bring big energy where we can, and where we can’t, we let the stories do the connecting!
If someone new to your music hears just one song from this EP, which one should it be and why?
That’s a hard question! I think it would depend on how they listen to music and what moves them.
I’d say it’s a toss-up between “Northern Blood” and “Sad Eyes”. Those two sort of encompass the feelings of the whole record. 🙂 Either way, I think there’s something special in every one of those songs!
