WOODHAWK Unleashes Powerful New Single “Relapser” From New Album “Love Finds A Way” Out June 2025
Calgary, Canada’s fuzz rock trio Woodhawk continues to build momentum toward their June album release with today’s drop of “Relapser”, the second single from their upcoming third studio album, Love Finds A Way, out June 6, 2025, via Grand Hand Records. The explosive track showcases the band’s evolution while staying true to their foundations in heavy, riff-driven rock. The band shares their thoughts on the single:
“This was one of the last few songs we wrote for the album. It really embodied this new step forward we were taking. Through all the growth and change we go through, it can be really defeating to feel like you fall back into old habits or patterns you are trying to get away from. These demons at the door are always there, trying to drag you back down. Nothing feels better than getting away from it. And nothing feels scarier than getting pulled back in.”
According to the band, “Relapser” represents the balance Woodhawk has always been trying to achieve. It’s got the heaviness their fans expect, but with the emotional honesty that’s become increasingly important in their songwriting. This song especially captures that journey of struggling, falling back into old patterns, but ultimately fighting to move forward.
“Love Finds A Way”, marks Woodhawk’s first full-length release in six years, following 2019’s “Violent Nature”, Woodhawk’s distinctive fusion of classic hard rock and modern stoner metal continues to captivate audiences and earn them a devoted fan base and people who enjoy Black Sabbath, The Sword, and Red Fang.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Turner, and I am from the Calgary band Woodhawk. I play guitar and sing in the band.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
Love Finds a Way is our new album. Available everywhere June 6 on Grand Hand Records.
We took a lot of time to write this album and really put it together. Our last release was in 2019, and so it took us 6 years to get this one all wrapped up. But we couldn’t be more excited about it. I think it’s what people would expect of our band after all these years, but we always like to evolve and grow within our band. I think that shows and you get a really riff rocking record, with a lot of honest heart.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
I will usually start with a riff and bring a sort of skeleton to the guys. We hash it out a bit and find what works and what doesn’t. We did that for a handful of this record, but we also did a lot of it by sending demos back and forth. Mike, our bassist, lives in Edmonton, so we took a different approach to kind of demo some stuff with just me and Kevin, then send it to him. He could add his bass and ideas and then send it back. It was the first time we wrote a bit more distantly. But I think hearing our songs in demo format, so much, really allowed us to analyze it more, instead of just getting excited by a part you were playing.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
We’ll be doing a few release shows in Calgary and Edmonton, and then we are doing a Canadian tour in August/ September. Hitting the trans Canada pavement and driving all over. We have missed doing big tours over the past years since the pandemic, so we are all very excited to get back on the road.
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
I think we celebrated our 10 year anniversary in 2024. That was so cool. We sold out our favourite venue in Calgary and just played a really fun gig. It was great to dive deep into our catalogue and play some deep cuts. That show meant a lot to us. But for a turning point, I think opening for Airbourne in 2016 was really wild. We got a call while we were recording our first album in Vancouver, that they needed an opener. So we finished our recording day, packed up our gear, played to a sold Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, and then the next day went back to recording like we didn’t miss a beat.
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward. What upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
Witch Victim. They are a Calgary band that is kinda psych, stoner, chill. I can never put my finger on their sound. But they are amazing. More people need to check
