FERG

Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver, BC
On May 17th, American rapper FERG (previously A$AP Ferg) brought the Darold Tour to the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. The Harlem native is touring in support of his third studio album, Darold, which marks his first project in four years.
This project seems to be a sign of growth for the rapper, dropping the A$AP from his name to focus on his solo work, and stating that Darold would be “his most vulnerable album yet.”
Darold comes from his birth name, Darold Brown Ferguson, and he even painted the album and singles covers. The album is very introspective and focuses on FERG’s struggles and trauma throughout his life. Big names like Future, Denzel Curry, Mike Will Made It, and Mary J. Blige appear on the album.
At 10:00 pm, the stage was set for FERG as fans started chanting his name, but due to his DJ having some technical difficulties, the show was delayed for about ten more minutes. After everything was sorted, FERG took to the stage, skyrocketing the energy in the venue, performing “Messy.” Although not a full venue, the fans that did show up indicated that Vancouver didn’t forget about FERG. The show felt very intimate, with the rapper going into the barricade, conversing with fans, and shaking hands, providing an unforgettable experience.
The rapper went on to play a 16-song set, with new tracks like “Thought I was Dead”, “Demons”, “Allure”, “French Tips”, and “Dead Homies”. He also didn’t leave out classics like “New Level”, “Shabba”, “Work”, “Dreams, Fairytales, Fantasies”, and “Plain Jane”
