Rising Canadian Country Artist Taylor-Rae Releases New Single “Drunk Plans”
We’re excited to chat with rising Canadian country artist Taylor-Rae, whose new single “Drunk Plans” dropped on November 1 via Symphonic Distribution. The track blends country soul with Taylor’s powerhouse vocals, exploring unfulfilled plans and the self-awareness that comes with them. Produced by Brad Hill, it’s the lead single off her upcoming EP.
Taylor-Rae has already made waves in country music, winning two BC Country Music Association Awards in 2023 and gaining over 1.5 million streams for “If This Is Love.” After a standout year, including performances at CMA Fest and Boots and Hearts, she’s gearing up for even bigger things. We caught up with Taylor to discuss her new music and what’s ahead!
First off, what have you been up to since we last chatted?
I’ve been keeping busy working on new music and playing shows!! It’s been a whirlwind year!
Your new single, “Drunk Plans” explores themes of unfulfilled plans and self-awareness. What inspired you to write a song about this relatable experience?
I love to write from my perspective and for this project, I’ve tried to be really intentional about letting the listener into who I am. Clearly making drunk plans is something that resonates pretty strongly with me haha!
The track is produced by Brad Hill, who’s worked with big names like Maren Morris and Brett Young. What was it like collaborating with him on this single?
Brad is always incredible to work with. He’s got such a great ear for music and we clicked really quickly when it came to the direction I’ve been wanting to take my own music in, which has made it really easy to work with him!
“Drunk Plans” is the second single from your upcoming EP. Can you share any details about the themes or stories we can expect on the rest of the project?
This project has a lot of themes of self-awareness. I think when it came to settling into what kind of artist I am and want to continue to be, it came with a lot of self-reflection so for me that became a lot of what I was writing about. You can definitely expect some more of that throughout this project!
With over 4.5 million streams on your EP Honest, what goals do you have for & “Drunk Plans” as it hits Country Radio?
I mean, I always set the bar pretty high for myself because and this song is no different. I just want to continue to build on the streaming success we’ve had with it so far and of course, would love to see some momentum building at Canadian country radio! It’s been a pretty exciting couple weeks with this song so I’m just excited to see where it goes.
What’s next for you after the release of “Drunk Plans”? Any upcoming projects or performances that fans should be excited about?
