Last night, Haitian-born and Quebec-raised Kaytranada played an epic homecoming show at Parc Jean Drapeau as part of his Timeless Tour!

After an opening set by DJ Kitty Ca$h, Lou Phelps (aka Kaytranada’s brother!) hit the stage with a dynamic set guaranteed to get the growing crowd going!

Up next, Compton’s Channel Tres was the surprise of the evening! He might have been billed as support on this tour, but he turned up with a headliner-level performance! From the intricate outfits to the backup dancers serving delightfully retro hip-hop moves, Channel Tres delivered a stellar set, which would without a doubt set MTelus on fire if he ever came back to present it as a headlining club show.

Finally, shortly after 9pm, Kaytranada arrived onstage to a thunder of applause. Louis Kevin Celestin grew up in St-Hubert (a small town on Montreal’s South Shore) and became over the past few years one of Montreal’s biggest exports on the music scene! From Pharrell Williams to Anderson Paak, Chance the Rapper, Kali Uchis and many more, he’s become one of the hottest producers in the electro hip-hop sphere at the moment.

At the beginning of his set, Kaytranada set the tone by clarifying “It’s not a concert, it’s a party!”, and what a party it was! Last night was the perfect, slightly crip fall night weather, and 12 000 fans showed up to be wowed by his effortless beats and stunning visuals. The party carried on for many hours, making it a triumphant hometown show for Kaytranada!
