îLESONIQ 2024
Day 1: August 10th, 2024
With DJ Snake, Gims, Twinsick, Cloverdale, Future Exit and Fafa Khan
îLESONIQ is back to make Parc Jean Drapeau shake and Montrealers dance! After two days of torrential downpours thanks to tropical storm Debby, we were wary of the state we’d found the festival grounds in, but with the exception of a couple small puddles, everything was dry and ready to go with blue skies ahead!
We started our day with Montreal powerhouse Fafa Khan, who pulled all the stops in front of a growing crowd at the MainStage. Laval’s Future Exit brought some hard-hitting dubstep at the Neon Stage, while Cloverdale came straight from Halifax to make people dance! Twinsick (not real twins, named after Minnesota, although they could’ve fooled us easily by their resemblance) also tore down the main stage.
Closer to the end of the day (and after a surprise shower that got everyone soaked to the bone), Congolese singer Gims took over the main stage. With his rap sounds that sometimes veer on Pop and R&B, it might have felt like an odd booking choice at an EDM festival, but it wasn’t so long ago that îLESONIQ used to have a stage fully dedicated to rap for one day (Bad Bunny in 2019, anyone?). Regardless, the crowd was here for it, singing along to all of Gims’ major hits as loud as they did during his Bell Center show last year!
Finally, DJ Snake set the main stage on fire to close out the evening. With a ton of bangers (Turn Down For What, Let Me Love You, Lean On), and special effects approximately every two songs, he lit up the stage with fire, lasers, fireworks and all around good vibes!
îLESONIQ will be ending today, with highly-anticipated sets by Zedd, Loud Luxury, Tiësto and many more! There are still a few tickets available, check out the festival’s website for more info.
