FEFE DOBSON SHARES BRAND NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR SINGLE “SHUT UP AND KISS ME” FROM HER LATEST LP EMOTION SICKNESS
Fefe Dobson made her anticipated comeback last year with the release of EMOTION SICKNESS, her first full-length album since 2010’s critically acclaimed Joy. The high-energy Dobson is best known for is showcased throughout the entirety of the album especially on the punchy and flirty single “Shut Up and Kiss Me.” Now, Dobson shares the fierce and iconic new video for the song featuring several notable drag queens.
Directed by Dobson alongside her longtime creative collaborator, Aaron A (Nelly Furtado, Alessia Cara), the video was shot at the iconic Toronto LGBTQIA+ bar Crews and Tangos. In collaboration with FACTOR Canada and Alex Dooley of Dooley Noted Productions, the video features Madee Lovegood, Paris Matik, Makayla Couture, Kylie, Bella Bimbo, TWINKLET, Angëll Morana, STAR and VERUSCHKA.
Dobson explains the inspiration behind the video saying,
“I really wanted to include some incredible and diverse Queens in this video that really reflected the fun, flirty energy of the song. Each queen represented a different era of my career and it was beautiful to see how they each interpreted the lyrics in their own way through performance art. This is the first music video I’ve done where I’m actually not the featured star and I got to bring my vision to life.”
Dobson has several upcoming live appearances this summer, including at the Pigeon Lake Festival in Alberta this weekend and the halftime show at the CEBL Championship Halftime Show on Sunday, August 11th in Montreal, Quebec. Fefe is also set to perform at the first inaugural All Your Friends Festival that celebrates Emo Music and she will be playing alongside fellow legends of the genre including Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, and Dashboard Confessional on Saturday, August 24th. EMOTION SICKNESS is a return to Dobson’s earlier albums, combining angsty lyricism and unapologetic punk/rock-driven production like the live recorded drums and punchy guitars. On the record, she worked with producer Sam Arion (Alessia Cara, Tyler Shaw) and together recorded and wrote a portion of the record at one of Dobson’s favourite spots, The Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. The album received high praise with CBC Music saying, “EMOTION SICKNESS is packed full with rollicking, high-energy pop punk and Dobson’s signature frenetic vocal delivery, but even at its most brash, the album still sees Dobson vulnerably spilling her heart out.”
