Calgary Singer-Songwriter Michael Bernard Fitzgerald Releases Hopeful Second Single “Forever and Always” from Upcoming Horizon Lines LP
Following the success of his most acclaimed record to date, Love Valley, Calgarian singer-songwriter Michael Bernard Fitzgerald is set to release his sixth full-length album, Horizon Lines, later this year. Created throughout the transformative journey of entering fatherhood, the new music continues to weave together soulful sounds and introspective words, reaffirming a dedication to crafting songs that speak to the heart.
Fitzgerald is now sharing the album’s second single, the bright and driving “Forever and Always,” co-produced and recorded with Josh Gwilliam. Its pristine acoustic guitar and anticipatory percussion provide the backdrop for what Fitzgerald refers to as a song akin “to the dance we do when finding a partner and building a love.”
“There are hopes and dreams we have for ourselves in love and then there is also the capacity we have to give and receive that care. So much growth is needed to truly partner, to truly get past parts of ourselves to really become a team. “I want love this time” talks about building something with substance for the first time, getting past my own pitfalls. “Teach me how to confidently say, forever and always” – be that constant for one another, as we learn to get past some of the same blockages and hurdles. “
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, I’m a Western Canadian-based singer/songwriter + touring musician.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
We’ve released two focus tracks this year, ‘After a While’ and ‘Forever and Always’ – both are part of an LP I’m releasing this September called Horizon Lines. The songs feel to me like hopeful, loving takes on what the present days are feeling like.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
Typically I like to ideate on some music for a while, I usually keep going through the music and trying vocal ideas out for a few days before committing to a direction or feel.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
We set out on the farm tour this Friday, (www.michaelbernardfitzgerald.com/farmtour) and I’ll be supporting the new release with a Canadian tour this fall as well. Additionally, content-wise I’d love to put out the live farm tour record, plus we pretty actively post clips from the road on socials.
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
So many little ones along the way, always enough to keep me motivated and connected. Most recently my kids seeing me open up a Jonas brothers show at the Saddledome felt like a moment I’ve looked forward to since I started on this path.
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
There are so many. We’re taking a bunch of my faves on the farm tour with us and outside of that I’ve been putting community time in with all of the artists that work out of a co-work songwriter space we started called @pocono.house
