Both hotly tipped emerging artists in their own right, MINOE and Renon’s first point of connection happened by chance after MINOE found Renon’s bag on the streets of Montreal. With a little help from the internet, MINOE returned the lost property and in the process, the pair became fast friends. The girls initially connected over a shared love of songwriting and their similar Tumblr obsessions from back in 2014. Their natural alignment clearly shines through in the sexy, carefree lyrics of the track as well as the intense skins-style production.
By no coincidence, the release of LIQUORLIPS aligns with Pride Month, paying homage to the queer culture that has inspired both artists to be unapologetically themselves. Pulling inspiration from the likes of early Charli xcx, Crystal Castles, and princess superstar, LIPQUORLIPS channels raunchy, playful lyricism and not to mention, irresistible melodies.
Arriving ahead of MINOE’s upcoming performance at Osheaga, LIQUORLIPS is MINOE’s first offering since she released her debut EP ‘Bleeding Hearts Disco’ which arrived back in October of last year. Originally from Nova Scotia, MINOE took to songwriting at the tender age of 7 as a way to process her turbulent upbringing and navigate her queer identity. After being ousted in her teen years, she moved to Montreal to independently pursue a career in music.

Renon started out as a classically trained jazz musician whose sound naturally evolved into the slick-emo dark pop sound you hear today. Whilst her Jazz roots continue to be distinguishable within her style, there’s a wealth of experiences and influences that have had her hand in her development.
Renon has been nurturing a reputation for creating music that fuses painfully honest lyricism with bass-heavy production. Inspired by iconic artists such as Amy Winehouse, Banks, Charli XCX, Phantogram, and Lizzy McAlpine. Renon’s sound took a sharp turn after releasing her debut EP “my love” during the pandemic. In 2022, she moved to London, UK, and released her alt-pop single “Acting Up”. More recently saw Renon release her superbly catchy ‘White Girl Wasted’ which successfully set the tone for today’s new release! As much a songwriter as she is a vocalist, it’s no surprise that this effortless collaboration took flight as soon as MINOE and Renon got in the studio.
