TAPS INTO THE BOY THEY COULD NEVER BE IN NEW VIDEO
Montreal’s pop prince Mint Simon shares their new single and the accompanying video,
“This is my new gay pop single! It’s a sequel to my 2021 pride banger, ‘Some of Everything,’ and I’m so excited to bring this new dance energy into 2024,” says Mint. “Disco strings & beats, horns, and unabashedly queer, leaning into my reputation era. It’s about gossip and the way people describe queer individuals as ‘bad’ – do you think I’m bad? Let me show you how bad I can be.”
Mint teamed up with queer pop producer Kayla Diamond to create this year’s summer jam!
“This is for the boy I could never be in high school….“
Mint’s solo project has always been a vehicle for self-expression and a love letter to the younger version of who they always were on the inside, now being expressed on the outside.
“This one is the 90s/early 2000s handycam video of a classic jock boy (actually) breaking into an (actual) abandoned gym, and it felt like the perfect way to connect with my teenage self, ” says Mint. “The quintessential ‘bad boy’ in your favourite 90s romcom, I wanted to capture the essence & cheeky version of what ‘BAD’ feels like to me.”
