The Royal Foundry Share Alt-Indie Escape “Famous”

The Royal Foundry (Jared Salte, and Beth Schumacher) have officially queued their next single “Famous,” the follow-up to their tongue-in-cheek alt-rock anthem, “I Give Up.” “Famous” further cements the band’s approach to their craft: a blend of satirical lyrics, driving guitar riffs, and memorable vocal hooks to unabashedly belt out after a long day’s work.

When asked to elaborate on what inspired their creative direction for “Famous,” Beth and Jared turn things on the listener and ask a (rhetorical) question:

“Have you ever wished you’d wake up and ‘have it all’ without lifting a finger? This jam is about living in your dreams wishing they were your reality. With a satirical, catchy vibe, this song pokes fun at the ‘no work, all play’ ‘reality’/mentality that we know doesn’t exist, but wish it did. While everyone’s version of their dream world might look slightly different (we’re sipping sangria on our private beach), it’s safe to assume we all escape to whatever fantasies exist in our own ‘all work no play’ alternate reality from time to time. Like the idea of this dream world we escape to, this song was crafted as an earworm that will replay in your head long after your first listen; this is a track built around a head-nodding beat and an unforgettable hook: ‘So whatever, man. Just wake me when I’m famous.’ Whatever the escape, this song makes it onto the soundtrack.”

As the band approaches the 8th anniversary of their first commercial release, the Royal Foundry sound is as fresh as ever. The band entrusted Producer and Engineer Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, MONOWHALES, Nuela Charles) with highlighting the track’s ebbs and flows, inherent contrasts, and qualities.

Following a string of accolades for their last full-length album, Little High Little Low from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest/YYC Music Awards/WCMAs, The Royal Foundry is poised to ride this momentum on the West Coast into the rest of the country and beyond.
