ZILOH – Five Questions With

New Vancouver Artist ZILOH Debut’s West-Coast Inspired Single

Vancouver’s ZILOH makes his explosive debut with the bright and summertime-ready banger “KWYA” featuring Jacey.

This marks ZILOH and Jacey first ever single, the two look to make a name for themselves.

The west-coast-inspired song features atmospheric and bright pop-infused vocals from Jacey. ZILOH shows off his clever and honest lyricism while providing a smooth flow over the bouncy production.

“KWYA” was executive produced by TWXLL who assisted in the execution of the record. The trio met in elementary school and carried their friendship into the studio.

“KWYA” is a brief introduction to ZILOH:

“This song is for those who don’t know me. I want to be honest about who I am.”

This debut single is merely a glimpse into what ZILOH and TWXLL have planned for 2024 and beyond.

First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m a rapper who grew up in Toronto and currently resides in Vancouver. My approach to music is to blend every song I’ve grown up with while adding my own fresh dose into the mix.

Tell us a bit about your recent release.

“KWYA” is a short introduction to myself that shows off my west coast influence. I grew up listening to a lot of west coast music. Battlecat and Quik are some of my favourite producers so I thought I would use an instrumental inspired by them to let the listeners know who I am.

How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?

With my songwriting process I usually find an instrumental that speaks to me and I go from there. I feel personally like there is a symbiotic relationship between me and an instrumental.

Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?

My plan is to let this song float around organically and see how it’s received and release more from there. I am planning a music video for a song I have already finished. And as far as concerts go I would have to work on having a good stage presence and performance before I even think about a tour. But as far as new music you can expect more songs this year.

Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?

The highlight of my music career so far was seeing my friends react to the music that I created. These are songs that I wrote in the basement and seeing people enjoy that. It’s still sinking in.

Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?

I would urge people to listen to Shanuka, Rankie, and Maria-Therese.
