Churchill Park Music Festival Announces Nickelback with Special Guest Arkells and James Barker Band for First Weekend of Summer Festival

The Churchill Park Music Festival is back with another announcement. Kicking off this summer’s festival on August 9th in St. John’s, NL is the award-winning rock band Nickelback, with special guests including Arkells and James Barker Band.

James Barker Band has “fuelled an incredible story over the last decade, largely on their own, from opening for local bands in dive bars to charting multiple No. 1 singles.” The group currently holds the title of most No. 1’s for a Canadian country group in the BDS/Mediabase era. With multiple GOLD-certified and Platinum-certified tracks, the band’s “dedication to their craft and undeniable charisma has been the driving force behind their ascent to stardom and is stronger than ever.”

Arkells are “widely considered one of the most passionate, exuberant and in-demand live bands working today. As radio mainstays, sports-sync shoe-ins, and curious students of culture, Arkells have remained ever-present – building awareness and personal community experiences around their live shows and new music at every turn.” They received the 2023 JUNO Award for ‘Group of the Year’, making them the most decorated act in that category, having received this more than any other group. Just seeing one of their live shows will make you understand why. You truly do not want to miss them!

Nickelback have definitely made a name for themselves over the past few years. Not only were they named the “most successful rock band of the decade” by Billboard in 2009, but they were the 2023 Canadian Music Hall of Fame recipients. “Nickelback’s success includes worldwide sales of more than 50 million units, solidifying their status as one of the top-selling acts of all time”, along with multiple awards and sold-out world tours. With more than 23 chart-topping singles, you are sure to hear tracks such as “How You Remind Me,” “Photograph,” “Far Away,” “Rockstar” and many more. This will be their only stop in Atlantic Canada this summer and certainly one you will not want to miss!

This spectacular line-up has something for everyone. Tickets go on sale on Friday, April 26th at 12 noon NDT and will be available online at ChurchillParkMusicFestival.com
