NATE SILVA (ex-The Slyde) Announces Canadian Tour Dates (ON, QC, NB, NS, PEI) + New Video “Cauterize”
Nate Silva is a Canadian guitarist and singer/songwriter who has traveled through several sonic worlds throughout his career such as touring North America and playing at the massive Wacken Open Air festival proving that his versatile guitar work and captivating tenor vocals shine across multiple musical genres. Now, embarking on a solo career, accompanied by drummer/vocalist Matt Babineau and bassist /vocalist Dan Joseph, he delivers a dynamic and versatile rock experience that builds on the high-energy foundation of his past endeavours.
To introduce his new direction to fans, he is gearing up to release his first album, The Chase in May, and prior to that, the single “Cauterize”. Also, for those fortunate to be in the area, he is announcing album release shows in June and August. He shares his thoughts on the single:
“There is more 1990s alternative rock inspiration on this one, and likely the angriest song on the record. This is the uglier side of grieving the end of a relationship and trying to deal with infidelity. The words are pretty on the nose with this one, so I’ll let the lyrics speak for themselves. Musically, I wanted a groovier song on the album, and I also wanted a song that could have potential for jamming or opening up in the middle section in a live performance setting.”
As a natural-born performer, he is a delight to watch as he channels a commanding stage presence and encourages audience interaction. The live lineup presents as your classic rock power trio, and in a trio, every member has to be on top of their game onstage. They provide an engaging and rockin’ live show, where musical integrity and musicianship is combined with thoughtful songwriting.
The live video for “Cauterize” is available now and is recommended for fans of Danko Jones, Billy Talent, and Green Day.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Nate Silva here from Ottawa, Canada – I used to front and creatively lead a prog-pop rock band called The Slyde. Our fifteen minutes of fame was winning the Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2019 national competition and representing Canada at the Wacken Open Air in Germany. Life circumstances and a global pandemic led to the dissolution of The Slyde, and I am out on my own now doing a 90s-inspired alternative rock project, with elements of prog, folk, and borderline metal leanings.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
My debut album THE CHASE drops May 3, 2024. I’ve released a couple of tracks already off of it – you can find “Best Damn Thing,” “Come Down,” and “Burn!” on Spotify and all the streaming services. The collection of songs was a healing journey for me and a return to my musical roots of the alternative rock, post-grunge, and pop punk of the 1990s. It also retains my love for high-energy hard rock and interesting rock guitar playing.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
In support of the album release, I will be doing 20-some shows in Eastern Canada, performing the album cuts with my trio, as well as a bunch of solo acoustic shows. We will be hitting cities like Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal, as well as smaller communities like Huntsville and Brockville, and even going out to Charlottetown and Halifax. All show listings, ticket links, and RSVPs can be found on my website – http://natesilvamusic.com
If given the chance, which Canadian artist would you love to work with in the future?
In the context of this new project, I think we would be a great opening act for someone like Danko Jones.
What’s your goal for 2024?
Building the team, releasing the music, playing the shows, and refining the brand!
