SCENIC ROUTE TO ALASKA ANNOUNCE THEIR SEVENTH STUDIO ALBUM, LASTS FOREVER

Born and raised in Edmonton, the trio of childhood best friends, Scenic Route to Alaska, has been a consistent force in Canada’s music scene since 2011. With six albums already under their belt, the band (Trevor Mann, Shea Connor, and Murray Wood) is gearing up for their seventh release, Lasts Forever, set to drop on April 12th, 2024. The upcoming album promises a matured yet light-hearted sound, weaving catchy melodies with Trevor’s vocals as they navigate through themes of love, loss, and nostalgia.

They’ve shared the first single from the album, “Call It A Coincidence”, a heartfelt song about moments in everyday life that echo the presence of lost loved ones. It is a gentle reminder of shared moments, serendipitous encounters, and subtle signs that keep the memories of those we have loved alive.

Taking a new direction, the trio ventured into self-production for Lasts Forever after collaborating with notable producers like Howard Redekopp, Marcus Paquin, and Colin Stewart. Recorded live off the floor at Studio Bell, nestled in Calgary’s National Music Center, the band had access to an impressive array of gear. Notably, the captivating, fret-buzzing guitar that kicks off the record is none other than Randy Bachman’s vintage Stratocaster, channeled through Neil Young’s 1958 amp affectionately known as “old nasty.”

After capturing the bed tracks, Trevor took the reins, recording all the vocals in the comfort of Murray’s basement, jokingly referred to as the Jazz Café. The name pays homage to an old neon sign that emits the only glow in the vocal booth. In this cozy and familiar space, where the band typically spends most of their time jamming, writing, and hanging out, Scenic Route to Alaska added the finishing touches to Lasts Forever. The result is an exciting and authentic album that you’ll play on repeat.
