MARIYA STOKES RELEASES FIERY TRACK “YOU WANT ME”

MARIYA STOKES IGNITES A YEAR OF NEW MUSIC WITH THE RELEASE OF FIERY TRACK “YOU WANT ME”

STOKES ANNOUNCED AS SEMI-FINALIST OF THE SIRIUSXM TOP OF THE COUNTRY COMPETITION

Emerging as a dynamic, genre-bending force in Canadian country, multi-award-winning Alberta artist Mariya Stokes returns with the release of her vibrant, pop-infused country track “You Want Me.” Marking a year of new music leading into her anxiously awaited debut album, the new single comes on the heels of Stokes being announced as a semi-finalist in the SiriusXM Top of the Country competition.

Produced by Juno Award winners Justin Kudding and Spencer Cheyne, and co-written by No. 1 SOCAN award-winning songwriter Robyn Dell’Unto (The Good Lovelies, LU KALA, Donovan Woods), country artist Devin Cooper, and Stokes herself, “You Want Me” showcases her signature direct, tongue-in-cheek lyrics, infused with 90s-style vocal arrangements and an infectious groove. With its dynamic contrast of subtle, tension-filled verses and an explosive, upbeat chorus, “You Want Me” mirrors the emotional complexity of navigating an undefined relationship and the exhilarating rush of surrendering to the moment.

“They say you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and “You Want Me” is me shooting my shot,” Stokes shares about the track. “This song is about that heart-pounding moment when I realized I was falling hard and fast for someone I was seeing, and needed reassurance that they felt the same. It’s a heartfelt confession and a question: ‘You’ve got me, but are we in this together? Are you all in?’”

Since making a confident debut in 2019 with “Hands On My Body,” Mariya Stokes has emerged as a Canadian country standout with her versatile songwriting, distinct retro style, and quick wit. Stokes’ music reflects her roots: honest country lyrics seamlessly blended with pop-influenced melodies. The two-time Horizon Female Artist of the Year for Country Music Alberta (CMAB), is a seasoned performer, having shared the stage with legacy acts such as RuPaul’s Drag Race superstar Trixie Mattel, Doc Walker, and Jade Eagleson; and billed on top tier festivals such as Cavendish Beach Music Festival and the Calgary Stampede.

Mariya Stokes is poised to have a breakout year as one of the top talents to watch in Canada’s country sphere.
