José Lobo To Re-Release 2023 album, In all good Hope via Paper Bag Records
In all good Hope, the debut album from Montreal-based singer-songwriter José Lobo — initially had its Canadian release in October 2023, and saw Lobo celebrated the following month by Exclaim! as an Emerging Canadian Artist You Need To Hear. Now, the record is being re-introduced to international audiences with a brand new re-released version, out today at all digital service providers and Lobo has now signed with Paper Bag Records.
The record, a veritable linguistic bouquet – sung in Portuguese, Spanish, French, and English – will also be issued in limited edition vinyl and CD variants this spring — the pre-save for these versions is live here. On May 31, 2024, a Digital Deluxe release of In all good Hope will feature additional new tracks to be announced soon.
Accompanying the re-release’s arrival to all DSPs, Lobo shares a new music video for the track “Lista pa’ la carrera” featuring San Francisco-based Juarense singer-songwriter and activist Diana Gameros.
“Lista pa’ la carrera” was written by Lobo, and tells a story about a love that couldn’t win the race, it is the hand of cards that you get dealt at a game and you immediately know you won’t win. The video was recorded in the fall of 2022 by Miranda Guzmán at Gameros’ house in Berkeley, CA. In the video, we see Lobo and Gameros playing cards, and even competing to see who lowers the blinds first.
Miranda notes,
“The tension of the spaces in between— the moments the flower vases are empty, the second before the card is laid out, the fidgeting feet, the impatient fingers, and the unmet glances are what I wanted to capture and feel.”
