Winnipeg/Nashville’s Leanne Pearson Releases Heartfelt Ode to Love and Marriage In “I Do Again”
Winnipeg, MB-born; Nashville, TN-based songwriting force Leanne Pearson has done it again with her new single. A culmination of her songwriting spark, notorious humor, and unique lyricism, “I Do Again” is a fresh ode to marriage and love.
The talented, multidimensional writer brings to the song the deeply personal story of the tumultuous journey she and her husband embarked upon as they planned their wedding nearly four years ago. But the restrictions of the 2020 global pandemic caused them to reschedule three times before finally canceling their big day and eloping—with an Elvis-themed ceremony, no less! In the fall of 2023, though, they finally got the wedding of their dreams, with friends and family in attendance.
The single speaks to the unconditional love the couple has for one another; despite the obstacles they faced, Pearson and her husband have learned to roll with the punches and take each challenging moment as a lesson in commitment and perseverance. And at the end of the day, Pearson found herself saying “I do” no less than three times.
“Now I got 3 rings for each time I said yes / No there ain’t nothing I’d change about it / I said it then, and I’ll say it now / I’ll take you by the hand and say I do again,” she writes in the new single.
Pearson’s country roots shine through as the singer sets a lyrical storyline to a traditionally twangy musical backdrop. Her ability to craft a compelling and emotional story through song has been recognized time and time again with a Top 50 and multiple Top 100 songs at Canadian Country Radio. This songwriting expertise takes the spotlight once more in “I Do Again.”
Pearson hasn’t stopped writing music since she wrote her first song at age 10. Now, years later, she’s still weaving stories with her words, and “I Do Again” places her talent, creativity, and passion for writing (and for her husband) center stage. It’s a single listeners will no doubt return to, time and time again.
Care to introduce yourself?
I’m Leanne Pearson! Songwriter, singer, musician, and recording artist, who loves to share positivity with a side of Mom jokes!
Tell us about the process of recording “I Do Again”?
I love being real, and sharing my life in my songs! “I Do Again” feels like Part 2 to “Miles Away”. I was feeling grateful for my love story and where I was in life at that moment. Life kept throwing Jordan and me curve balls, but we continually rolled with the punches and made the best out of every situation we were in. Eventually, I realized that everything worked out the way it was “supposed” to. How lucky am I to get to marry my best friend twice and have our son as a ring bearer?!
I took the song to producer, Robyn Dell’Unto. I wasn’t sure if I needed a co-writer, if the song was done, or if it needed a bit more magic. She loved the song the way it was, so we took off running on the production. The first mix sounded INCREDIBLE. We made minimal changes to the production, so what you hear now is the first draft!
I danced in the living room with Jordan and my son Levi! Levi was singing “I Do Again” over and over! I told Robyn it sounded like a single! From then on, I knew I had to release it! We played the song at our wedding in October 2023, so it will always have a special place in our hearts!
What’s it like being a musician in Nashville after moving from Winnipeg?
I love the music scene in both Nashville and Winnipeg! Both locations are filled with such talent, and I thrive off that energy! There is a fun community in Nashville where everyone supports each other and lifts each other up. We want to see everyone be successful, we know there is room for all of us and we help each other in any way we can. It’s a beautiful thing! I love to support other artists and help them achieve their goals!
So, you have to tell us – what’s the secret to a happy marriage?
My husband Jordan and I have such a great relationship! I think the secret to a happy marriage is marrying your best friend, having mutual respect for each other, and laughing every day! Jordan and I genuinely love each other’s company, we have so much fun together!
You’ve been making music for a bit of time now, what’s one piece of advice you can offer to those starting out?
If I could give advice to anyone, I would say to be yourself! Be authentically YOU! There is no other “you” out there, so instead of trying to chase trends or be like someone else… just be yourself!
