Service Delay shares new EP, February
Service Delay is a pop punk/emo band based out of Toronto. The band formed back in 2017 and since 2020 the members consist of brothers Joe Galbrand (Bass/Vocals) and Dave Galbrand (Guitar/Vocals), Carter Brockerville (Drums), and Chris Cadieux (Lead Guitar/Backup Vocals).
The band released their debut EP KODA in 2018. They later released their sophomore EP Splash in 2019, adopting a more aggressive and melodic sound influenced by hardcore and metal.
Today marks the upcoming release of their long overdue 3rd EP February which will pull on the audience’s heartstrings with songs tackling issues like death, betrayal, mourning, and hope.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi there! We are Service Delay from Toronto Ontario
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
We wrote these songs almost 4 years ago now and a year ago, we decided to go into the studio to record with the hometown legend Collin Carnegie who has done work with our good friends in Pantomime, Gurth and Post in the past as well as played in some of our favorite local bands like Fuzz Monkey Reunion and Midnight Vesta!
Our newest single “To the Sky” is about our (Dave and Joe’s) grandmother and her battle with cancer which unfortunately ended with her passing away. She was so strong during the whole thing and we wanted to dedicate the song as well as our upcoming EP “February” to her memory.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
We have an EP release show on October 13th at Duffy’s Tavern in Toronto with Adam in the Bayou, Soda, and our good friends Gurth!
If given the chance, which Canadian artist would you love to work with in the future?
There are so many incredible Canadian artists that we would love to get a chance to work with. But we would be incredibly stoked to get a chance to work with Billy Talent’s Ian D’Sa someday!
What’s your goal for 2024?
For 2024 we hope to just push this upcoming EP to its full extent and just try to get it out there as much as possible. And maybe write a song or 2, who knows!
