On Friday night, Coldplay brought their Music of the Spheres World Tour to a sold out BC Place in Vancouver.
The evening started with three opening acts who warmed up the crowd for the main act: Bobby Gonz, 070 Shake and Grammy Award winner H.E.R.
The band had invited youth representatives of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations on stage. The three Nations came together to share a land acknowledgement on behalf of Coldplay.
The show started with the songs “Higher Power”, “Adventure of a Lifetime” and “Paradise”. While Coldplay performed several songs from their latest album, they obviously played some of their biggest hits and fan-favourites like “Viva La Vida”,”Yellow”, “Clocks” and “Fix You”. The production featured giant balloons, suspended planets, confetti, fire, lasers and coordinated LED wristbands that turned the stadium into a giant dancefloor at times.
After their show in LA on October 1st, Coldplay will head to Japan, Singapore and Europe to finish their World Tour.
