B1GJuice Unveils Hip-Hop Anthem, “BAE”

Canadian hip-hop sensation B1GJuice has unveiled his electrifying anthem, “BAE.”

Get ready to sway your hips, feel the rhythm pulsate through your veins, and embrace the sensual allure of the dancefloor.

Recognizing beauty, confidence, and love in all shapes, shades, and forms, “BAE” is a celebration of diversity as much as it is a party centered on intimacy and untethered connections.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Yerrr! What’s good all my big dogs. It’s you friendly rapper B1GJuice. My real name is Tyreek Phillips. I used to play football in the NCAA (Of course Division 1 cmon!) but I had to stop after my sophomore year due to a heart condition. I fell into a deep depression, was kicked out of school, and came home empty. It wasn’t until I decided to use my passion for poetry and expression through creative writing with my love for music that I started living again. Now blessed with a sense of resilience, I explore (through music) the lessons of my past life, my struggles as an artist, and my current journey to happiness. Integrating real vulnerability with hard-hitting stories I try my best to use my voice to foster the sheer resilience everyone needs today.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

My latest single “BAE” is definitely inspired by the beautifully diverse culture and art of the North. I applied calypso, soul, hip-hop, and tropical house to jump out of my comfort zone and back into my Caribbean roots for this one. Recognizing beauty, confidence, and love in all shapes, shades, and forms, ‘BAE’ is a celebration of diversity, intimacy, and untethered connections. With an irresistibly catchy bounce, I promise (Scout’s Honor) it’s a must-listen song for the end of the summer.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Experiences, moments, and the emotions that come with them. I think it’s easy to get caught up in what you hear on the radio or see on your phone, so I try to write from a place of reality; my reality. Whether telling a story or trying to describe a feeling – I try to pull it from my personal experience or at least of those closest to me. Some of my biggest inspirations for songwriting are Bob Marley, Freddie Mercury, and Schoolboy Q. They are all vulnerable artists who use not only their perspectives; but the perspectives of others as well, to tell relatable stories.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

I’ve had a busy year so far; I just finished 7 shows in August, and have a couple more to go. BUT I am always open to more shows (if any booking agents are reading this). Sometime in October; my “Bitterjuice” collective bandmates, BitterxBroke will be hosting their annual ‘PAY DAY’ festival so please be on the lookout for those tickets.

What’s your goal for 2023?

Look out for my newest upcoming single ‘LeftRight’ where I Inject a pinch of bounce and jazz into my trademark “soul-hop” sound. I dedicate the feeling of this release to those well-versed in grown love and finding new sparks in the twilight moments. Other than that, I am aiming for elevation and growth in all aspects of my artistry. I would like to end the year strong with an upcoming EP entitled P.O.A.M. (Portrait of a Manic), various collaborations with a producer out of NYC named Spolied Suede, as well as some new joints with the Bitterjuice Collective. Outside of music, I just hope to continue the journey happily while motivating people I interact with to do what they love confidently.
