Shawn Desman Returns With Empowering Single, “Love Me With The Lights On”

Multi-platinum, JUNO Award-winning, Canadian icon Shawn Desman proves he’s here to stay with the release of his empowering new single “Love Me With The Lights On” via Wax Records. Following his unprecedented comeback last year with Top 10 hit “Maniac,” the tantalizing new track builds with a pulsing beat, back by irresistible synths and an impassioned vocal performance that showcases why he is one of Canada’s biggest musical success stories to date.

The powerful message behind this track is extremely personal for Desman – a dedication to his wife Chantelle, who after spending five years battling severe illness, struggled with the physical changes that followed emergency surgery.

“I remember feeling so heartbroken when she expressed feelings of insecurity about the physical changes she was about to go through. This person who I love so much, who’s been through so much, was worried about how I’d feel about her, and not celebrating how this would improve her quality of life. I looked at her and said – Babe, you have nothing to be scared about. What I want is for you to be better. You will always be the sexiest person in the room to me.“

He continues about writing the track,

“I wanted to write something empowering; that reminds people that they’re perfect as they are. No matter what you look like, whatever colour your skin is—you are perfect! I want to send this empowering message to everyone, but at the heart of it, this song is a dedication to my wife, and to everyone else who may have at one time felt the way Chantelle felt.”

To fully express the message behind “Love Me With The Lights On,” Desman has partnered with renowned female-led brand Knix for the upcoming music video to create a powerful campaign that highlights women celebrating themselves and each other, in every form. The video will feature lifestyle personalities and creators such as Sarah Nicole Landry (The Birds Papaya), Jam Gamble, Cat & Nat, and Alicia McCarvell as well as everyday, real-life women, shining a light on each of their unique stories.
