Festival d’été de Québec

with The Smile, Koffee, Isabella Lovestory
After a couple days cancelled due to nasty thunderstorms, it seems like Mother Nature is back on Festival d’été de Québec‘s side! With clear skies and no rain on the forecast, we checked out sets by The Smile, Koffee and Isabella Lovestory.
We started our evening there, with Montreal’s Isabella Lovestory opening the festivities. It had been a few years since we last caught her live, and it was a nice surprise to see her act more refined, bringing to the plains one hell of a dance party!
Up next, Grammy Award-winning reggae singer Koffee brought all the good vibes to the stage! The 23 year old Jamaican prodigy never fails to amaze us, as she hops around the stage without a care in the world and just brings all-around good energy! Her set was more chill, less stunty than the one before hers, but the clash in energies somehow worked to make a very interesting succession!
While Pitbull rocked a crowd so packed the plains hit full capacity way before his set, we headed to the Parc de la Francophonie to catch The Smile close that stage. The British band, made up of legendary Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead, accompanied by Tom Skinner, dimmed the lights to bring the packed audience onto an alt-rock journey. On a simple stage and with limited crowd interactions, the band put the focus on the music, with trance-like musical whirlwind reminiscent of Radiohead, as the impeccable setlist hit all the notes, from opener Pana-Vision all the way to the closing cover of Thom’s Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses.
