First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We are Jordan Coaker and Kirsten Rodden-Clarke better known as the Newfoundland Americana duo Quote the Raven.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
Our latest release was our sophomore record called Can’t Hold the Light. We’re currently working on a follow-up with hopefully some new tunes coming later this year.
You’re playing Stan Rogers Folk Festival this year. Is this your first time playing the festival? If so, have you ever attended?
This is our first time performing and attending, but what we’ve heard from attendees in the past it’s a memorable one! It’s been on our bucket list of festivals since we started playing so we can’t wait!
With a stellar, hugely-Canadian lineup, who are you excited to check out at the festival?
We’re really excited for our kickoff show on the Thursday night with our buds Alan Doyle and Rum Ragged, but there are so many friends from all over we can’t wait to reconnect with throughout the festival!
For someone who has yet to see you perform live, describe your performance in 3 words.
Harmonies Jokes Harmonies
On Saturday, July 22, there will also be a tribute to Gordon Lightfoot, so I have to ask, what is your favourite Gordon Lightfoot song?
Carefree Highway! There’s something about that guitar solo!!
Do you have any other upcoming shows or festivals to tell us about?
We’ve got a busy summer! We’ll be at Mariposa in Orillia! With a bunch of other dates in Ontario leading up to this year’s festival and then the Larlee Creek Hullabaloo later this summer! Check out our website https://www.quotetheravenofficial.com for all our upcoming events!
