Canadian Singer-Songwriter Ryan Thomas Smelle Releases New Single & Video, “Love Monkeys”
Niagara artist Ryan Thomas Smelle released his latest single, “Love Monkeys” on June 21st – a fan favourite at his live shows, “Love Monkeys” is a poppy folk song about first love. For the single, Ryan made a video with Black Frame Cinema, filmed in Niagara-on-the-Lake at Silversmith Brewing.
Ryan shares,
“This song and video are 15 years in the making. When my wife and I were first dating, I had bought these stuffed monkeys that were hugging each other and in a flash of about 5 minutes I penned this song for her. Over the years I’ve played this song, and it’s changed and morphed quite a bit. Everyone who hears it loves it. I do play this song quite frequently live and people seem to be singing along by the end despite never hearing it. It is really a nod to those feelings you get when you are first falling in love, or in that exciting phase of a new relationship.”

The simplicity of the chorus adds to its charm and makes it easy to sing along, inviting listeners to embrace their own “love monkey” spirit and celebrate love together.
Overall, this song carries a straightforward yet impactful message and is a wonderful addition to any uplifting playlist, providing a delightful getaway into a world of love and carefree bliss.
