Tonight, Montreal was in for a rock throwback with the long-awaited Blink-182 reunion!

The evening opened with punk rising sensations Turnstile. Just like when we caught them at Osheaga last summer, frontman Brendan Yates’ energy was overflowing to the top! However, and this might just be a factor of switching from outdoor festival to an arena, but the show felt less visual and more intimate with every band member (except drummer Daniel Fang) plunged in haze and coloured darkness.

Shortly after 9pm, the Bell Center was officially at full capacity, with the demand for Blink-182 so high the venue opened last-minute seats behind the stage! The deafening screams when Tom, Mark and Travis hopped onstage were no surprise, as the band hadn’t visited Montreal since 2016. All stops were pulled with a massive production, the diamond-shaped stage being lit by pyro during opening track Anthem Part Two, and confetti drowning the stage during 3rd track (and fan-favourite) Family Reunion.

For the next hour and a half, Blink-182 alternated between banter and hits, wrapping things up with classics: What’s My Age Again?, First Date, All The Small Things, and an explosive finish for closing track Dammit. The trio showed up and showed everyone how it’s done, and we sure hope it won’t be 7 years until their next visit!

Blink-182 will be playing in Toronto tomorrow, and in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary at the end of June. For tickets and more info, visit the band’s website!
