Nicole Rayy, an inspiring ball of fire to many, has a busy year lined up starting with the release of her latest album and the music video for her latest single “Now & Then”

Nicole Rayy, a Canadian country/pop singer-songwriter known for her powerhouse vocals, is celebrating a decade of crafting her unique brand of empowerment and her ability to connect with fans across many platforms and mediums. As well she’s rapidly growing her name in the industry for bringing female-identifying artists together through her All Woman Music showcase series, which has seen showcases and songwriter rounds across Canada. The four-time CMAO nominee has continued to make herself an artist at the forefront of the country music scene for her empowering, anthemic releases, which have garnered over three million catalogue streams to date.

Creating music is a way for Nicole Rayy to bare her soul and to express what she honestly feels. This flair for compelling storytelling is what brings her fans back time and time again. She’s done it again with the unveiling of the official music video for her new single and title track from her brand-new album Now & Then, which premiered on March 22 via YouTube. The video for “Now & Then” is a reflection of the past decade for her. It also features Rayy giving a stunning performance on a vintage 1901 piano and is the first time she has done so in one of her videos since “Don’t” (2017). Because she enjoys playing the piano, she told Canadian Beats in an exclusive interview, “It was nice to incorporate the piano again.”

The music video, produced by Roadhouse Productions and filmed in Rayy’s hometown of Alliston, Ontario, pays homage not only to her local community but also the other six tracks that complete her recently released album. With Easter eggs that give the nod to the music videos of her past, this beautiful song, “Now & Then,” truly weaves together the milestone moments of her career to date while also displaying a sentimental storyline based on the real-life encounter that inspired the track.

Rayy shares,

“‘Now & Then’ is a real story. It was inspired by bumping into an ex of mine. For that reason, I wanted the video to feel very real. I wanted viewers to have those emotions that come up when you bump into someone you used to care about. The story for me all takes place in the small town where I live, so I wanted the video to all be filmed locally to add to that real feeling.”

Rayy released her album, Now and Then, on March 2, with the title track now at country music stations. Canadian Beats interviewed Rayy, and she spoke of her album,

“Now & Then is the perfect title for this album because it really encapsulates the stories from both my past and present. It is a celebration of my life now (“Last Ones Up”) and how I grew up (“Feels Like Yesterday”). Many of the tracks on this album have been my biggest singles to date (“Broken Boys”) and I am very excited that they all finally have a home on one record. I am really looking forward to sharing another chapter in my story with my fans and inviting them further into my world with the release of Now & Then.”
