Justine Blanchet listens to her “Heart Less” and finds confidence and clarity in her quest for love
Canadian country artist Justine Blanchet has shared her tenth single release, “Heart Less.”
“Heart Less” is Blanchet’s second Nashville-produced single by Grammy-nominated Danick Dupelle (Tebey, Tyler Joe Miller, Matt Lang). Written by the formidable trio of Canadian country star MacKenzie Porter, Grammy winner Emily Weisband, and Grammy nominee Jordan Schmidt, “Heart Less” brings powerhouse songwriting to a catchy musical canvas of modern country beats and pop sensibilities. With a lively vocal delivery that conveys swagger and sass, Blanchet takes listeners through a girl-meets-bad-boy story of loving, losing, and knowing better.
She says,
“This song is about recognizing that the classic bad boy you fell for is never going to change for you. Instead of being a conventional heartbreak song, it puts forward a bold idea – listen to your heart less. ‘Heart Less’ appealed to me because of this message, its play on words, and its overall vibe. Bringing to life what MacKenzie, Emily, and Jordan wrote was an honour.”
“Heart Less” marks a ten-single milestone and serves as her personal favourite from her upcoming debut EP. For fans who discover “Heart Less,” Blanchet wants them to put the same confidence and swagger into their own dating choices as she put into making the song her own.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Sure! I was born on the South Shore of Montreal, and I grew up listening to amazing female artists like Shania Twain, Reba, and Carrie Underwood. I began songwriting around the age of 15 and knew that country music would be my genre. Ever since I’ve released ten singles and each of them has been a journey.
You’ve unveiled your new single, “Heart Less.” What drew you towards this track?
I fell in love with this track from the first moment I heard it. The song was part of a playlist that I received, and I was supposed to pick three songs. “Heart Less” was my #1 pick. I love it because of the play on words, which is very similar to my own songwriting. The melody and rhythm were like icing on a cake and solidified my choice to record it.
You worked with Danick Dupelle on the production of the track. How was that experience?
Like every song we have worked on so far, the experience was amazing. Every step of the way, we had check-ins to make sure both of our visions for this song were coming to life. He truly invests his all in every song that we have worked on.
You are dropping a music video for the single in March. Can you give us any hints about the video shoot?
I sure can! The video was filmed in Nashville last fall, and I can definitely say that I am playing different characters in the music video. Both are very different.
You are from Montreal but now live in Nashville. What do you miss about the music community in Montreal?
I was never fully immersed in the Montreal music community. Most of my efforts and networking are focused in Ontario and the Western provinces. I do miss being around Quebecers and being able to talk French!
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
Not at the moment, but it’s a work in progress! Definitely will announce it on my socials and my website when I have some booked.
