Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi! I am from Vancouver, BC. I have released over 25 songs out of the 300-400 that I have recorded in the last few years.
I began my love of singing when I was just four years old. In fact, that’s how I learned to read. I read lyrics, not stories. I would write and sing for 2-3 hours a day throughout my school years. None of my friends knew about it. They knew me more as an athlete because I played basketball and ice hockey. Although, at 12 years old, I did fill in as lead singer for a performance with some friends in a band when their singer got sick. I believe it is still up online somewhere!!
About 4 or 5 years ago, I finally felt ready to share my music. Since then, I have been rather prolific: releasing 25 songs, 1 EP, and one album while reaching 500,000+ streams across all platforms. I released three music videos to accompany some singles and featured in 9 other performers’ songs. I do a lot of collaborations, including ones with Will Ryte, Balam Kiel, and 24 Hrs.
I like to bring people together with music. That’s partly why I do so many collaborations. Additionally, I have taught/inspired more than 20 people how to record/write their own music and worked with videographers new to the industry.
In 2021, Carbon-L and I worked together, wrote, and recorded a song, “Golden Girl,” – for the “Canadian Songwriters Challenge.” We were one of the winners.
I have several songs and a couple of videos ready to release before the summer that I am excited about sharing.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
My most recent release is a West Coast Hip-Hop/R&B collaboration with FlyGuyVeezy. FlyGuyVeezy is a well-established LA-based artist who has notable songs with Kalan.FrFr! This song will bring the West Coast LA sound to the Canadian market. I hope others find it catchy.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
I get inspiration from what’s around me – what I am doing, watching, or enjoying. I strive to make cheery, positive, upbeat songs that create a happy listener feeling. I don’t have a big message to impart. Not yet anyway!
Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to share?
I recently did some shows at a prominent University in my town. I am hoping to book a festival in the future.
What’s your goal for 2022?
My goal for 2022 is to bring happiness and cheer to more people. I want to continue to grow and make music that I like.
