Edmonton singer-songwriter embraces nostalgia, self-expression, and empowerment on her latest collection.

Edmonton singer-songwriter Tanjeryne is embracing her roots while exploring new creative territory on her latest album, Leather & Denim. Blending classic country with elements of jazz, soul, and folk-pop, the collection showcases her distinctive sound, heartfelt storytelling, and growing confidence as an artist.

Produced by Mallory Chipman and featuring some of Edmonton’s most accomplished musicians, Leather & Denim brings together nostalgic influences and contemporary themes of self-expression and women’s empowerment.

Tanjeryne Leather and Denim – A Bold Blend of Country, Jazz & Soul

Tanjeryne first teased the album in 2025 with the wistful single “Storyteller,” offering listeners an early glimpse into her evolving musical direction.

In June 2026, she followed with “God’s Problem,” a playful and unapologetic track that finds the singer-songwriter embracing her perceived shortcomings rather than hiding them.

Featuring acoustic duo The Western Thistles, the song highlights Tanjeryne’s ability to put a modern spin on traditional folk influences while maintaining her signature country sound.

Another standout, “City Girls,” brings a smoky, jazz-inspired atmosphere to the album. Accentuated by Dave Babcock’s sultry saxophone, the track delivers another message of female empowerment while showcasing Tanjeryne’s versatility.

Elsewhere, songs such as “Takes Two To Dance” and the title track “Leather & Denim” lean further into the album’s sultry side, with expressive vocal performances that reveal a bolder, more uninhibited artist.

Tanjeryne Embraces Her Country Roots and Musical Influences

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Lana Del Rey, Norah Jones, and Linda Ronstadt, Tanjeryne has developed a sound that bridges generations and genres.

While her music incorporates jazz, soul, and folk-pop, her natural Albertan country roots remain at the heart of her artistic identity.

For Tanjeryne, Leather & Denim represents a significant step forward, both in her willingness to express herself lyrically and in her approach to creating a more organic sound.

“I wanted the songs to sound as they do when I sing them live,” she explains. “I’m grateful to have had Mallory at the helm producing the songs; her arrangements really brought the songs to life. My voice has a natural Albertan twang. I’ve always tried to suppress it in my voice, but I think it comes out nicely on this record and reflects the music that I grew up listening to.”

With Leather & Denim, Tanjeryne brings that authenticity to the forefront, delivering a collection that celebrates individuality, musical tradition, and the freedom to embrace every side of herself.
