Canadian country artist brings honky-tonk energy to his latest single, “She Likes Good Whiskey.”
Canadian country artist Aaron Halliday is keeping the honky-tonk spirit alive with his latest single, “She Likes Good Whiskey,” released alongside his full-length studio album, Home Wasn’t Built In A Day.
The fourth single from the album combines the classic country sound of Hank Williams Jr. with a love story, delivering a high-energy two-step built for the dance floor. Inspired by a trip to Nashville and time spent at Hank Williams Jr.’s bar on Broadway, “She Likes Good Whiskey” brings together traditional country influences and Halliday’s signature style.
Aaron Halliday Home Wasn’t Built In A Day – New Album and Single
The release follows an impressive 2026 touring season that took Aaron Halliday and Sharyn across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
With more than 60 performances throughout the year, the duo continued building their audience while bringing their energetic country performances to new stages.
One of the year’s highlights included performing the Canadian national anthem and delivering the halftime show at an Edmonton Elks CFL game in August.
Now, with Home Wasn’t Built In A Day and its fourth single, “She Likes Good Whiskey,” Halliday is continuing that momentum.

First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?
I am Aaron Halliday; a Country Music Alberta and CCMA artist based out of Edmonton AB. My wife and I actually have a house outside Edmonton in the small town of Sangudo.
A lot of you will know me as “That Alan Jackson guy” due to the 30 years I’ve spent performing a tribute to him as The Alan Jackson Experience. But if you’ve been to a show before you will also know that it is an opportunity to share my original music as part of those performances. That’s the dream – My music – and Sharyn and I have been chasing that for my entire career.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
The current single “She Likes Good Whiskey” is the fourth single from the new album “Home Wasn’t Built In A Day” which was released the same day as the single. It is a song that reflects the energy and fun of performing live, along with the underlying story of a lasting relationship and how it can be as exciting years down the road as it is the day you meet!
I wrote it after Sharyn and I spent some time in Nashville and were hanging out with some of our musical friends at Hank Jr’s bar on Broadway. I had not written what I considered a true Honky-Tonk song, and the prospect was a challenge and a blast to write. Real life always seems to be the backbone of a good song, and this is as real life as it gets for Sharyn and me. She Likes Good Whiskey and I used to write sad Country songs!
Walk us through your creative progress when creating music.
You always hear that songs come in the middle of the night, out of nowhere. For me that is also true sometimes, other times it’s sitting in the passenger seat of the bus while Sharyn is driving down the road to the next show. It all depends on when the spirit moves you.
Sometimes it’s a line in a conversation or a thought that pops into your head. It gets written down, or I tend to text random lines to Sharyn, so I don’t forget them. Other times it all comes flooding in at once and the body of the song is there. Then I pick up the guitar and realize there’s a lot more work to do to get it where it needs to be.
Now that the music is out, what does the ‘road ahead’ look like? Beyond tours and videos, what’s one ‘bucket list’ goal you hope to achieve with this release?
I have a BIG Bucket List! I have performed for so long doing covers with a sprinkle of Originals that the thing that will thrill me, will be the day I walk onto the stage for an Aaron Halliday concert as a stand-alone Singer-Songwriter. You will want to be in the room that night for sure!
Every artist has a ‘lightbulb moment’ where things just clicked. Looking back, what’s the one performance or milestone that made you realize, ‘Okay, this is what I was meant to do’?
It is hard to pin down a single moment. I fronted several small cover bands and as the Tribute went along there were some incredible moments. The one thing that I keep going back to as an Entertainer was seeing Alan Jackson at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival and I was about 10 rows back from the stage and I turned around and saw 75000 people waiting for him to come out and that’s when I really thought I could do this. That moment gave me a direction, and I’ve been chasing that my whole career. I came close this summer when we were asked to do the Halftime show for the Edmonton Elks Football Club with 20,000+ fans in attendance. That was pretty cool! But they were there for Football I want them there for me next time!!
We love championing Canadian talent. If you were curated a ‘Must-Listen’ playlist of emerging artists right now, who is the first person you’d add?
That’s the hardest question so far, I’ve known so many great singer songwriters who should be listed here but I’m going to single out Jon Cyr he’s a great writer and more importantly a good guy and I got to meet him when I was playing Casino Nova Scotia this year. Then I took the time to listen to his music. But, again, there are so many talented Canadian artists out there that it’s really difficult to single one out!
There’s nothing like the energy of a live room. Where can fans catch you on stage next, and for someone seeing you for the first time, what should they expect from an Aaron Halliday live experience?”
Expect energy! That’s what I love about performing live. Whether it’s a rockin’ Honky-Tonk song like She Likes Good Whiskey or a powerhouse ballad, it’s the energy that delivers the fans an experience!
Sharyn and I spend the winters in Mazatlán México, and I perform a solo show twice weekly, that features my own music and cover songs at a residency in a Mexican restaurant where we typically have 300+ people from all over North America. The tour next year – 2027 is already filling in and in April of next year we will be in Lloydminster AB April 17th, Saskatoon SK April 20th and Casino Regina Showroom April 21st, and Calgary AB on April 23rd. We have lots of dates to fill in and our schedule is updated all the time at: www.aaronhallidaymusic.com
