Singer, Songwriter and artist Cowgirl Kim Thompson recently released her latest single ‘Got Love’.

The Alberta, native has credits that go far beyond the music industry. Thompson has credits in commercial film including Heartland, Fargo and the Oscar-winning Brokeback Mountain .

In addition to her work on screen, Thompson is routinely found at live gigs throughout the west, and her songs have been spun on radio stations domestically and internationally.  Fun Fact: Thompson has been known to sing the national anthem at the Canadian Pro Rodeo, but she does it while riding a horse around the arena!

Her music can best be described as a yarn-spinning, boot-stomping, railway rushing ditties; that evoke nostalgia and they compel you to sing-along.

Ladies and gentlemen; a lady whose voice is as compelling as her smile … KIM THOMPSON.

First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Kim Thompson, and I am a Canadian singer-songwriter and recording artist.

Tell us a bit about your recent release.

Got Love is a spoof on Got Milk. When you find love appreciate and adore it as it is rare.

Walk us through your creative progress when creating music.

I have many but mostly writing early mornings and recording in an hour session is ideal.

Now that the music is out, what does the ‘road ahead’ look like? Beyond tours and videos, what’s one ‘bucket list’ goal you hope to achieve with this release?

I have I Love Dirt out already and its charting. Its a spoof on Saturday Night Live – I Love Dirt Movie.

Every artist has a ‘lightbulb moment’ where things just clicked. Looking back, what’s the one performance or milestone that made you realize, ‘Okay, this is what I was meant to do’?

‘Okay, this is what I was meant to do’?  Realizing songwriting and singing is a gift and should be used if people connect.

We love championing Canadian talent. If you were curated a ‘Must-Listen’ playlist of emerging artists right now, who is the first person you’d add?

James Barker Band

There’s nothing like the energy of a live room. Where can fans catch you on stage next, and for someone seeing you for the first time, what should they expect from your live experience?

J Club Calgary in August. New songs and originals with covers. A smile or two and some humour I hope. Requests taken.
