You’re described as an architect of Celine’s catalog. How conscious were you of building a long-term arc versus choosing songs one hit at a time.
I had the vision of looking for a type of songs that would be right for success before I brought them to Celine.
What was the hardest “no” you ever had to give a great songwriter, and how did you live with it?
The hardest artist “NO”I had to give a songwriter was to Diane Waren. You have to understand for Diane every song is like a baby. So that was a tough one to manage.
Was there a moment you realized Celine wasn’t just becoming a star, but a once-in-a-generation voice?
I realized that Celine would get to the top after the first English album!
Looking back from Unison to Taking Chances, which era taught you the most about risk?
For me, every album was a risk because of the budgets I was spending to record Celine.
If fans rediscover Celine’s catalog through your eyes, what do you hope they notice now that they might have missed the first time?
I would want them to realize how important my contribution was to Celine’s career!
