After Alberta-based singer/songwriter Cynthia Hamar unveiled her new identity BirdBelly last month with the single “Black Horses,” today she is sharing “Desert Khaki,” the second preview of the debut BirdBelly album The Wind The Wood, set to be released on Oct. 17. “Desert Khaki” adds more atmospheric vibes to BirdBelly’s stellar production values—imagine Stevie Nicks collaborating with The War On Drugs. Canadian singer-songwriter Chase Van Dusen has returned with his brand-new single, “Broken” — a raw yet uplifting track that dives deep into themes of pain, self-acceptance, and the long road to healing. Released August 8th, the song marks the first glimpse of his upcoming album, Lost and Foundand showcases Van Dusen’s signature blend of heartfelt lyricism and dynamic indie-rock sound. When it comes to young bands shaking up the scene, few bring the grit and guts quite like Friday Project. Hailing from Oakville, this teenage trio—Jack Galloway (guitar, vocals), Aidan Girardo (drums), and Noah King (bass)—is rewriting the rulebook with nothing more than basement jam sessions, a borrowed car, and a passion for loud, unapologetic rock. At just 16, they’ve already written, recorded, and produced a debut album that’s as raw and restless as youth itself. Ahead of his forthcoming new album COUNTRY! COUNTRY!, superstar HARDY shares the long-awaited fan favourite “Dog Years.” Written more than ten years ago before HARDY had signed a publishing deal, the song resurfaced last fall when HARDY performed it at a charity event for Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation and fans have clamored for its release since. “What happened to the protest singer?” asks Paul Cargnello on the searing opening single of his new album, and it’s not rhetorical. With his 20th album, Combat Blues’, out now on Quartier General, the Montreal-based singer-songwriter and producer is back with a defiant, groove-laced, politically charged collection that refuses to look away.
