Ontario’s Friday Project shares debut single, “Capitola Coast”
When it comes to young bands shaking up the scene, few bring the grit and guts quite like Friday Project. Hailing from Oakville, this teenage trio—Jack Galloway (guitar, vocals), Aidan Girardo (drums), and Noah King (bass)—is rewriting the rulebook with nothing more than basement jam sessions, a borrowed car, and a passion for loud, unapologetic rock.
At just 16, they’ve already written, recorded, and produced a debut album that’s as raw and restless as youth itself. Packed with jagged riffs, punchy hooks, and bursts of chaotic honesty, their sound thrives in every setting—from sweaty club stages to late-night drives with the volume cranked to 11.
Friday Project isn’t just making noise—they’re making a statement: you don’t need polish to pack a punch, and sometimes the best music comes from the mess.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We’re Friday Project, an Ontario-based alternative rock band made up of three teenage friends: Jack Galloway (vocals/guitar), Aidan Girardo (drums), and Noah King (bass/guitar). We started the band back in eighth grade, and it’s been our passion ever since.
Our upcoming album experiments with a mix of genres and subgenres, but our latest single, “Capitola Coast,” is a laid-back alt-rock track inspired by a California beach. Our next single, though, leans heavier. On stage, we love to let loose, rock out, and make sure the audience has as much fun as we do.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
“Capitola Coast” just dropped in September 2025 and leans a little more pop than most of our other songs. The main riff was actually written by Aidan—our drummer, not a guitarist—which gave it a simple but super catchy feel. That riff immediately gave off beach vibes, which inspired the lyrics.
At first, the bassline was going to stick to the roots, but with help from our producer, Geoff Hlibka, we developed a groovier, more dynamic part. Geoff also helped shape the bridge. While the track is heavily produced, nearly everything you hear comes from guitar, bass, and drums (seagulls not included).

How do you typically go about the songwriting process?
Jack: Since I sing, I usually write most of the lyrics—it helps me shape how the words will flow vocally. I tend to start songs with a chord progression, either one I’ve come up with or sometimes chords Aidan sends me. Guitar is my first instrument, so it’s where I feel most comfortable creating.
From there, I’ll add lyrics and melodies, much like rappers do when writing over a beat. Once I’ve got the skeleton of the song, we bring it to the band. That’s when Aidan and Noah add their parts and ideas, and the track evolves into the finished version.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release?
We’ve been playing lots of bar shows in our hometown of Oakville, Ontario, including one at Monaghan’s Sports Pub & Grill the day after “Capitola Coast” dropped. We also have upcoming shows in Toronto and are working toward playing a bigger venue there for the album release.
We’re planning music videos (details coming soon), and fans can look forward to our album in November. Looking back, is there a particular moment that stands out as a turning point or highlight?
One of our biggest highlights was playing our first paid gig. Beyond being an absolute blast, it was a huge learning experience—like realizing we’d better bring spare strings, extra batteries, and backup gear. It felt like a big step up from open mics and school shows. Plus, playing at bars and venues helped us connect with new people and build relationships that could lead to future gigs.
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward. What upcoming band or artist would you recommend our readers check out?
We’ve had the chance to share the stage with some amazing young bands in our area. One we definitely recommend is BeBe & Oona—they’re fantastic live and write super catchy songs. Other bands worth checking out are Ride the High and Club of Shattered Hearts, both of whom put on great shows and have cool music out already.
