Karli June shares new single, “Man Like Mine” (Interview)

by JamesM | Aug 8, 2025 | Interviews

Rising Country Artist Karli June Drops New Single “Man Like Mine” Ahead of Boots & Hearts Performance

Award-nominated singer-songwriter Karli June is quickly solidifying her place as one of Canada’s breakout country artists. With over 3.2 million streams and video views, and a string of chart successes both at home and abroad, she’s building a career on authenticity, heartfelt storytelling, and a voice that resonates with listeners everywhere.

Her next chapter arrives August 8 with the release of “Man Like Mine” (The Orchard) — the fourth track from her forthcoming sophomore EP. A warm, heartfelt ode to rare, genuine love, the single paints the picture of a strong, independent woman finding a partner who truly understands her.

Fresh off performances at CMA Fest’s Spotlight Stage and a year that’s earned her three 2025 CMAOntario Award nominations, Karli will keep the momentum going with a set at Boots & Hearts Music Festival on August 9. From her duet “Feel Like Home” with Ryan Langdon to SiriusXM’s Canada “Top of the Country” #1 hit “Still Make Cowgirls”, Karli June is proving she’s a force to watch in the country scene — and she’s only just getting started.

First off, what have you been up to since the last time we talked?

It’s been a really exciting season both personally and professionally! I’ve been soaking up time with my new baby girl — becoming a mom has changed my life in the most beautiful way. At the same time, I’ve been diving back into music, writing, recording, and prepping for some really special releases this year. I’ve also been playing shows (My first CMA fest in Nashville!), planning merch, and getting ready for Boots & Hearts, which has been a dream of mine for a long time.

Congrats on your upcoming single “Man Like Mine”! Can you tell us the story behind the song and what inspired it?

Thank you! “Man Like Mine” is a really personal one. It’s inspired by my husband and the kind of grounded, humble, faith-filled man he is. When we wrote it, I wanted to celebrate the kind of love that isn’t flashy, but strong and steady — the kind that builds a life with you and shows up every day. It’s a song for all the women out there who want to celebrate their man!

How does “Man Like Mine” fit into the bigger picture of your upcoming EP? Are there any themes or messages tying the tracks together?

Definitely! This whole project is about real stories, honest emotions, and the kind of hope that can be found even in the hard stuff. Whether it’s love, faith, or resilience, there’s a throughline of strength and authenticity that ties it all together. Each track reflects a piece of who I am and the journey I’ve been on — both as an artist and a woman navigating life and motherhood.

How does it feel to be heading to the Boots & Hearts stage this year? Any surprises planned for the festival crowd?

It feels incredible! I’ve dreamed of playing Boots & Hearts again since I was part of the emerging artist showcase years and years ago — it’s such an iconic festival and a huge moment in Canadian country music. To be part of it this year is truly special. I’m bringing some new songs to the stage (including “Man Like Mine”!), and I’ve been working hard to make the set really dynamic and heartfelt. Let’s just say there might be a few unexpected moments that’ll give people something to remember.

As someone emerging as one of Canada’s breakout country artists, what advice would you give to other women trying to carve their path in country music?

Industry can be tough, but when you lead with authenticity and keep showing up with heart, people will feel it. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, stay grounded in your values, and don’t lose sight of why you started making music in the first place.

Lastly — for fans eagerly waiting for August 8th, how would you describe “Man Like Mine” in three words?

            Honest, heartfelt, and strong.
