First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m Dallas Alexander—born and raised in the Fishing Lake Métis Settlement in Alberta, Canada. I spent over 17 years in special operations, with JTF2, and was part of the team behind the longest confirmed sniper shot in history. After retiring from the military, I turned to my life long passion, country music. It’s been a wild ride, songwriting gives me a whole new way to tell stories—raw, real, and rooted in life experience. Currently on a summer-long tour with the full band, and loving life on the road and connecting with fans all across the country!
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
7 Words is such a fun song. I wrote it in Nashville with Jeff Hyde and my friend Danielle Bourjeaurd. Raw, unfiltered, and unapologetically defiant, “7 Words” is a fiery breakup anthem that turns heartbreak into a full-blown blaze. Anyone who’s been there will get it 😉
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
I don’t think there’s one magic formula to songwriting, but I definitely have a rhythm that sets me up right. Mornings are key for me—early rise, cold plunge, some breathwork or a good sauna sweat to shake off the noise. That’s how I crack open the creative portal, so to speak.
After years in special operations, I learned that discipline creates space for freedom. The same applies to songwriting—if I can get my mind and body aligned first thing, I’m way more open to chasing a lyric, a melody, or even just a feeling. Sometimes the song shows up in a quiet moment, other times it hits like a freight train in the middle of a conversation, drive, or at my favorite bar stool. I try to stay present and catch it when it comes. But it all starts with setting the tone—mind sharp, heart open, pen/ notes app ready.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
I’ve got some big plans lined up to back this release. We’re hitting the road hard—playing some killer venues across the U.S. and Canada—and I’ve been diving deep into content creation like never before, and some very cool creations are coming soon. I’m also teaming up with a few Nashville artists I’ve really connected with—some surprise collabs are coming that I’m stoked to share. The goal’s simple: stay real, stay present, and keep building a world around the music that fans can truly be part of.
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight? I think it would be when we played our first ticketed show. Having people pay and show up to hear original music was so cool!
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward. What upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
Oh wow, there are so many! I think a good friend of mine, insanely talented artist and podcaster named Ellis… you won’t regret adding her music to your daily playlists! She’s also on my current album, with our duet “Last Picture of Johnny Cash.” She took this song to another level!
