Hamilton’s Kristin Nicholls Band Returns with Country Anthem “One More Round”

“I got sober… and released a fun drinking song,” Nicholls laughs. “There’s some irony there. But this song is about joy. About celebration. About giving yourself permission to just live again.”
Kristin’s journey through addiction, divorce, and redemption plays like a country ballad in its own right. Following a complicated custody battle and a battle with addiction, Nicholls turned his life around — embracing sobriety, reconnecting with faith, and dropping 70 pounds with the help of CrossFit and therapy. Now, he brings that energy to One More Round — a track that’s equal parts party and purpose.
The Kristin Nicholls Band includes Kristin Nicholls on lead vocals and guitar, Luke Cronsberry on lead guitar and vocals, Ryan Barwin on pedal steel guitar, banjo, and dobro, Allen Bilston on drums, and Scott Marsh on bass guitar and vocals. Together, they bring years of stage experience and a love for country storytelling rooted in gospel, rock and roll, and the real-life grit that defines their sound.
Produced by Jordan Honsinger (with previous work in both Nashville and Hamilton), One More Round blends modern country production with the rootsy storytelling fans love. The writing team — Nicholls, Cronsberry, and Honsinger — steered away from clichés and leaned into vivid scenes, catchy hooks, and a playful barroom spirit.

Hi Kristin! Good to meet you! Care to introduce yourself to the readers for those not familiar with your music?
We are a 6-piece country/rock band from Hamilton, Ontario. We made the transition into country music in 2023. We all grew up on rock and gospel music, but during the Covid years, I started listening to more & more country music and quickly fell in love with the hauntingly beautiful sounds of the pedal steel guitar, the percussiveness of the banjo, and especially the storytelling of the songwriters.
“One More Round” is packed with party energy, but it comes from a deeply personal place. What inspired you to write a celebration anthem after getting sober?
I love high-energy music, although it hasn’t always been easy for me to write it. There are a lot of common themes in country music songs. Having a drink & enjoying a party seem to be at the top of the list. I’ve been fortunate enough to have such a supportive band that encouraged me through my journey of getting sober. I wanted to have fun on stage, so we set out to write a party energy song, packed with visuals in the video of having a drink & line dancing.
You’ve talked openly about your journey through addiction, divorce, and ultimately, redemption. How have those experiences shaped your songwriting and performance style?
As songwriters, our experiences ultimately shape what we write about. We want the audience to connect with what we’re singing, whether it be whiskey, women, or our faith. We have a lot of energy & emotion when we perform. Our hope is that the listener feels encouraged & has a lot of fun in the process.
How did your bandmates contribute to shaping the spirit of “One More Round”? What was the energy like in the studio with Jordan Honsinger producing?
This song was a bit of a new sound for us. We did that purposefully. From Luke’s raunchy guitar to Ryan’s banjo rolls keeping that energy high, we set out to record a song that would be fun to perform live for us and exciting for the listeners. We hope we can get some line dancers going each time we perform it!
There’s a strong sense of purpose behind the fun in this song. What do you hope listeners take away from it, especially those who might be struggling themselves?
Just because someone gets sober, doesn’t mean’t mean that they can’t have fun anymore, I’m living proof of that! Our hope is that if someone is struggling with addiction that they have the courage to ask for help. The stigma behind addiction or mental health isn’t what it once was.
