Good music Monday or whatever this is posted! Welcome back for a brand new batch of the best music on the Internet. These are all articles that were posted here on our website, Canadian Beats Media. I hand-picked six of my favourites and wanted to share them with you here on Zach’s Picks Of The Week!! The links to each of these articles can be found below in this post you’re reading. There you can find the full articles and media attached. But what do you say, we get started with the first recommendation of the week?!
Five
To start off our list this week, we have Toronto-based singer-songwriter and filmmaker David Jane. He dips into the uncanny experience of returning home to a place that no longer feels familiar with his latest single, “Five and Dime.” Go ahead and find it now across all your favourite streaming platforms; you can hear it in this article.
Four
Moving along down our list will bring us to JUNO Award-winning artist Crystal Shawanda. She returns with the heartfelt new single, “Would You Know Love” which is available across all streaming platforms via New Sun Records. It was produced by her husband and collaborator Dewayne Strobel, the song blends Crystal’s signature raspy vocals with the raw emotion of blues and the storytelling soul of country. Check out the new single plus an interview with Crystal Shawanda, in this article.
Three
Next, we have the combined collaboration of Julian Taylor and Jim Cuddy on the new single “Tulsa Time.” It’s a soulful tribute to the timeless country classic, capturing the essence of camaraderie between the two collaborators. “Tulsa Time” stays true to the spirit of Don Williams’ original, with Tyler and Cuddy maintaining its easy-going, nostalgic charm. Learn more in this article.
Two
Making our way to number two on our list is going to be the age-old saying. Behind every great man is a woman and that theme resonates in the new single, “Under All the Lights” by Newmarket roots musician, John Dawson. In Dawson‘s mind, he finds deep emotional residence in this age-old poetic trope of the enduring love between, a pro wrestler and his wife. Find it now across all streaming platforms or listen to it in this article. Find out which pro wrestler couple John Dawson inspired. Hint, he’s the current Undisputed WWE champion!!
BONUS: Canadian Beats Passport
This is gonna be our international bonus recommendation post on our Canadian Beats Passport section. introducing you to Virginia-based musician, Drew Gibson. He has created a beautiful new single “Burning Horses” which features the very talented Maddi Mae and is the title of his new album. It’s co-produced by Gibson and Marco Delmar and released on Cragmont Records. Please go and check out the full post in this article.
One
Now we have reached my final pick of the week, Brigitte Eve & The Troublemaker are kicking off 2025, being my number one recommendation. They also released a new, deeply personal single, “Winter Jacket,” which you can find on all streaming sites. It’s written collaboratively by Brigitte and drummer Nate, this heartfelt track showcases the duo’s signature blend of lyrical depth and emotive sound. Go listen to it in this article.
