Julian Taylor and Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo’s “Tulsa Time” is a Heartfelt Rendition of a Country Classic
Julian Taylor and Jim Cuddy’s new single, “Tulsa Time,” is a soulful tribute to the timeless country classic, capturing the essence of camaraderie between the two collaborators.
4x JUNO nominated Taylor, known for his poignant songwriting and heartfelt performances, teamed up with his longtime friend and country legend Cuddy of Blue Rodeo for a rendition of this beloved tune. The collaboration is part of Taylor’s ongoing exploration of music that resonates with the soul, reflecting both personal growth and his array of influences.
The track was initially performed live at The Horseshoe Tavern as part of a Christmas fundraiser for the Daily Bread Food Bank and later revisited during the 2023 JUNO Awards at The Carleton in Halifax. Inspired by the magic of those live performances, Taylor decided to record the song with Cuddy, Jimmy Bowskill, and a group of talented musicians at Bowskill’s home studio.
“Tulsa Time” stays true to the spirit of Don Williams’ original, with Taylor and Cuddy maintaining its easy-going, nostalgic charm. The track’s smooth vocals, accompanied by acoustic guitars and subtle harmonies, offer a warm, relaxed listening experience that will transport fans back to the heart of country music’s golden era.
Julian shares,
“It’s such a classic country staple. I’ve loved it for a long time and what a pleasure it is to sing it with one of my friends and heroes.“
